Chapter 1
Origins

Before there was light, before there were gods and planets and solid beings, there was the Void. Vast and empty. Now, the Void is not as people assume, it is not just a vast nothingness between realities but an immense being of mal-intent. It is often referred to as “She” or “the Mother” due to the pure evil she birthed into reality. One such being was the First Voidic Demon,  older than some God’s in fact. It’s name Zpoldys Zwoky. This demon was the first of many but her purest creation. A being much like herself, all instinct. No real thought would enter its head, it would maim and kill without remorse. The perfect killing machine.
But, such things were not meant to last. For then came the first light. Blinding, warm, and beautiful. Everything that the Void herself had sought to avoid and to this day, no one is actually sure where it came from. Scientists have their theories, as do religions, but no one can truly explain the light. The Void sent the first demon to destroy the source of all light, to extinguish it before it created life of its own.  But as the demon left the dark embrace of the Mother and exposed himself to the light, he changed. The Perfect killing machine who was born not to think, to feel, to do anything other than the biding of the Mother defied his creator’s will and he did begin to think for himself, to feel everything, to decide whether or not what his mother was asking him to do was right.
He turned from the Light and flew far away, trying to escape the unending reach of the light and his Mother. Confused and uncertain of everything he had ever known, he cocooned himself in Ebon glass, blocking the Light and the Void. This lasted for over 2000 years. When he rose from his cocoon, he came face to face with the first stages of reality. The Light had given birth to stars, planets, God’s and beings of power. But His mother had been busy as well, creating new creatures to destroy creatures of reality, to devour their essences and bind them to The Mother for eternity.
Upon this realisation, the First Demon wept. Tears of anger and rage. He’d locked himself away and for what? He missed the creation of so much and felt like he no longer belonged. These other Void creatures were abominations, disgusting sick creatures of the womb he once inhabited. His primal rage overwhelmed him and he saw naught but red. Flying to the nearest planet, he unleashed his anger upon it. The only living things on said planet were plants, but all the same he wiped them out, destroying everything in his path. After the rage subsided and he saw what he had done, he collapsed to the ground, feeling disrepair and pain of the planet itself as it died. The dead world was to be his home for several thousand years.

That’s when The Light had birthed something new.
