Voidic Lore

Misconceptions
The Void, or “The Mother” as it is occasionally known, is not as the world pictures it. Everyone who isn’t in the loop about supernatural realms and beings assume that the Void is nothing more than a huge empty space, containing nothing but darkness and an abyss that never ends. This is in fact a falsehood and not to be believed. Yes, the space between realities is the Void that separates them, but in truth, it is a being of monumental size and existed before light, reality and will continue to exist after the end of everything.

Lore
As stated before, the Void is a living being, capable of independent thought and action. It is the original source of all evil, focusing solely on its own continuing existence and preservation. Its mal-intent over shadows any being that exists currently, that and its ability to consume all and everything in its way. There is the odd occasion that the Void will spew fourth some being made from her own malevolent mass.

Creatures
The most commonly known creatures associated with the Void are “The Touched” or “Void Demons”. The corruption of the Void is insurmountable and can never be reversed or altered, and those that have tried either fail or the corruption spreads to them, mutating and changing the person that they once were. The worst recorded incident of a Void touched being was back in 50BC when a Sperm Whale (or its closest know ancestor) fell through an accidental Voidic rift into the Mothers Dark Embrace and became something different all together. It mutated into what is now known as a Ebon Leviathan, a predator that roams the Void, snapping up everything that is living or dead, with skin as hard as Tungsten Carbide and offspring starting out the size of the Empire State building, these phenomenal creatures could never have been created by any other being, nor exist outside the Void Herself. No matter the creature, there is always a link to their creator, no matter how small, it is always there. Said link can, by certain empathic beings, be felt or sensed as the Voids hunger, rage, blood lust and the feeling of emptiness is never ending and flows through all of its Children.
Reality and the Void
No matter what, the Void has been there since before time began, before reality and before any God, as it is the nothingness that reigns eternal. However, it is only one end of the scale. As with everything, there must be balance, and the very first example of this is The Void and The Light that birthed reality and everything from then on. As with anything dark, its rival is light which exists only to combat said Darkness. This again is true of the Light of Reality. “Evil” and “Good” are only concepts, created when reality was born and invented by its inhabitants. The Void itself is not evil, but due to the perspective of all sentient beings, it is considered so, although it only wishes to do as every other LIVING being does. Survive.

Void Pockets
No, the Void does not have pockets like that of a coat or a piece of clothing, but it does have small encased realities within its own being, such as “The Crimson Shores” or “The Black Gates”. These Voidic bubbles allow the more intelligent Void children to live in vast cities or they house entire planes of deserts, oceans, Forests etc. but these creations often end up twisted due to the Void’s own nature. Void Pockets came to be when the Mother witnessed the birth of reality, and attempted to create something of its own to combat the Realities born of light, though no matter how many attempts were made, the Void failed achieve its goal and so moved on to creating something simpler. Living beings, though in recent times, her original attempts could be called a success. So in a sense, The Void herself was the 2nd God to ever exist, but I digress. Since then, many cities have been constructed by the creations of the Mother, but are nigh impossible to enter or find, unless granted permission, or, entry to the Void was by accident/ “forced” and the trespassers are plucked up by Void Children and taken to one of these cities. Many Pockets coincidently have merged together and created vast realms, though this process takes hundreds of years.

Time
Time within the Void or its pockets is very different to the flow of time anywhere else. Seconds on Earth are hours, minutes are days, hours are weeks, so on and so fourth. So, for example, where one could be moving from a Voidic realm to Earth, the amount of time spent on an Earthen plane is contrary to the time that passes in the Void. A being could spend 10 years in the 21st century before returning to the Void, and in the pockets, another century could have passed. And vice versa.  2 years in the Void would surmount to months away from Earth. It’s all very confusing if you aren’t used to it.

Embodiment
The Void sees all, and yet, very few beings ever see her. But when they do, she often appears as a Giant eye, observing those that have gained an audience with her. These audiences however, are precarious even at the best of times. If the Mother does not like what you are, what you have done, and sometimes, just doesn’t like the fact you exist, the Void can hurt, maim, or completely destroy the being there and then, Mortals and God’s alike.
