Legend of Kair’nai Empty
PostSubject: Legend of Kair’nai   Legend of Kair’nai I_icon_minitimeSat Aug 02, 2014 2:02 pm

The temple stood. Though it was aged it still was sturdy. The stone was black as coal, from the walls to the solid columns. Even the floors inside the great structure were made jet and marble. Out front was a large sculpture of a creature. A great beast. It stood on two legs resembling those of a Minotaur, its head carried seven horns, one on the forehead and the other six pointing back, its face was demonically grotesque with rotted skin falling off of it, its body was almost the same but with hundreds of spikes sticking out of his back, chest, and arms. The beast had six tails, each one tipped with a living snake head that seemed to have a mind of its own as each faced a different way in a different mood or mannerism. The most noticeable aspects of the sculpture were the six large, black wings with flames at the tips of each. Or’nulfa.

He walked from the temple, down the steps of jet and marble. He was covered from mouth to ankle save his long white hair. Even his eyes were covered. He moved his head as if looking around as the wind swept past his cloak sending the slight chill of the night. He wasn’t muscular or terribly tall…then again…most Kair’nai were not. The sound of guns cocking reached his ears as the soldiers seeking to destroy the temple and claim what were inside turned on their weapons on him. He continued down the steps, the claws of his feet not making as sound as he progressed, unnerving a good few of the soldiers as they held their guns at the ready. Turning the soldiers opened fire in a hell of special, energy based bullets. Quickly he held up a gloved hand, an odd symbol appearing in his right palm that resembled something close to a spider’s web in the shape of a crescent moon. The bullets ricocheted, sparking as it hit some unseen force in front of him. A few of the redirected bullets coming back to kill a good amount of the soldiers, narrowing their numbers.

The soldiers still standing backed up a bit before the man vanished before their eyes. Their leader looked around, protected in thick grey armor, looking around just as he heard screaming. The covered one had reappeared by the walls, falling from the air as he thrust a long yet thin blade through one of the men sent to scale the walls. Vanishing and reappearing he made short work of the infiltrators on the wall. As he dashed through the rest the sword he carried changed into a long scythe. It wasn’t long before the leader was the last whole man standing. His legs starting to tremble he backed up before he felt something at his back. Turning his head he found that he was back to back with the cloaked one. As if in irony, it began to rain. Cold silver rain quickly soaked the bodies and the living as the leader turned to stare at the man that had single-handedly slaughtered fifty men.

He looked at this man…this “leader” as he backed away.

“M-mercy…” The leader’s voice quivered in his helmet.

The cloaked one gently tilted his head in a half nod. As soon as he did the leader took off running. He didn’t get far. The cloaked one raided a hand summoning a spear and he threw it. It soured and just before hitting its mark two rifts of darkness and fire opened in front of the leader. He attempted to skid to a stop however the spear propelled him though both portals. He entered the first and shot out the second red and black skeleton with bits of flesh still hanging from the bones, the spear pinning him neatly on a tree.

His scythe turned back into a blade and he flicked the blood from it onto the ground as the rifts closed. By now he was soaked by the rain, but he didn't mind the cool water. Moving back towards the temple he felt the warmth from the statue of Or’nulfa. It was content with the bloodshed and therefore so was the Kair’nai. This was his task. In this nameless realm, under the three moons and no sun. His task was to protect this temple. He had done that this night as he had others. The temple stood.
